Press Release

12 December 2013 – The annual international Datacentre and Cloud Awards has been launched by the Judges Panel for the 2014 gala ceremony, which takes place in London June 2014

The organizers have also announced a new chair and an extended panel of expert Judges for the Awards, now in its 7th year. Following his three-year term as chair by Ashley Davis, the new chairman of the Judges Panel is Mr Gerd Simon, an independent consultant and expert in the datacentre sector. New Judges include Alex D'Anna, Director of European Solutions Consulting, Virtual Instruments; Steve Anson, Vice President Marketing, Anixter International Limited; Günther Huth, Director, GePlan Ingenieure GmbH; Peter Starziczny, President, Verband Innovatives Rechenzentrum e.V.  and Jan Wiersma, Vice President Global Cloud, SDL.

This year’s categories are designed to reflect changes in markets and technologies, but retain their focus on recognising excellence across the datacentre and cloud sector. The innovative new categories announced include Best Improvement Process for Energy Efficiency in the Data Centre; 7 awards for New Data Centre in North Europe, Benelux, Germany, France, Southern Europe, CEE, Russia CIS and UK & Ireland respectively; Telco Data Centre of the Year; Financial Services Data Centre of the Year; Modular and Prefabricated Data Centre Award; DCIM Award; Best Outsourcing Project - CIO Award; Data Centre Investor of the Year and Best Contribution to Education for the Data Centre Industry.

“Although the datacentre and cloud market has grown steadily over the past decade, current transformations place significant new demands on deployment,” commented Gerd Simon, chairman of the Judges Panel.

“Besides increasing efficiency, the challenges are to remove all kind of bottlenecks to support ubiquitous computing. The Award categories in 2014 will reflect these trends and challenges. Our Awards process will identify best-of-breed concepts, solutions, expertise and talent that demonstrate leadership and fosters future growth of the datacentre industry.”

Providing exceptional marketing differentiation for both winners and nominees, the Awards are highly sought after because of the independence of the panel of Judges, robust scrutiny of nominations, and their relevance to today’s changing conditions in a continually evolving market.

Awards provide unique stand out against competitors, buy-in from customers and internal teamapproval and affirmation.

The Awards ceremony and dinner will be held in London on the evening of June 12th.
