Monaco, 3 June 2015 – At the 8th annual Awards ceremony took place last night in the prestigious Le Méridien Monte Carlo Hotel, showcasing the best in class services and innovation winners of both data centre and cloud categories celebrated their success.

The top award, Prix Européen for data centre industry leader was given to Eric Schwartz, president EMEA of Equinix, and for Cloud Industry Leader to the Ireland representative office of ComputeNext.

The European Data Centre Award was taken by French media, TV and data centre group TDF.

A new award for Enterprise End User Innovation was won by GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung. GSI operates a unique large-scale accelerator for heavy ions. Researchers from around the world use this facility for experiments that help them make fascinating discoveries in basic research. In addition, they continually develop new and impressive applications.

The Data Centre Sustainability Award was won by German multinational software corporation SAP SE.

Another new category for Data Centre Marketer of the Year was awarded to Omer Wilson, Marketing Director EMEA, of the global wholesale colocation services and data centre solutions provider, Digital Realty.

The Luxembourg data centre and cloud services operator EBRC was awarded Cloud Service Provider of the Year. The other companies shortlisted, Egenera, ComputeNext and Avangate were all commended.

Singapore’s IT Health provider, Integrated Health Information Systems Pte Ltd (IHIS) won this year’s Cloud End User Innovation Award.

The Judges Award traditionally provided to companies or people contributing demonstrable innovation or exceptional leadership presented an Honorary Lifetime Achievement Award to Harald Summa, the founder of and the global carrier and data centre neutral internet exchange service provider DE-CIX.

Paul-François Cattier, segment president cloud and finance at Schneider Electric was presented with the BroadGroup Industry Achievement Award.

“Held in Monaco for the first time, the Awards evening proved to be an exceptional event for the global data centre and cloud industry,” commented Gerd J. Simon, chairman of the Judges Panel.  “We received an outstanding range of nominations and the winners represent the best in this increasingly challenging and competitive industry.”
