Leading the way to a more sustainable future

The data centre industry has a genuine responsibility to conform to sustainable, energy-efficient practices, as a result of formal government regulations and initiatives, as well as robust Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) programs that data center owners and operators are now implementing internally. Not surprisingly then, sustainability is now a leading business issue within the industry, to the extent that an overwhelming 99% of large company CEOs agree that their sustainability strategy determines the future success of their business.

Given the above, we are starting to see companies reporting on their sustainability performance in the same way that they do their financial reporting. This is a positive step for the industry. However, it’s important that the reporting of these sustainability metrics are standardized, in order to drive efficiency, consistency, and to offer transparency on the environmental impact of their data center operations.

At Schneider Electric, we have recently published our Guide to Environmental Sustainability Metrics for Data Centers whitepaper as a framework for standardizing the reporting of sustainability metrics across the industry. Ultimately, we believe that metrics-driven transparency will promote sustainable best practices while keeping investors, regulators, shareholders and customers satisfied. To find out more about Schneider Electric’s vision of data center sustainability performance reporting, this new blog from Schneider’s Executive Vice President, Pankaj Sharma gives some excellent insight.

Throughout the course of Datacloud Global Congress, Schneider Electric will be delighted to spend time with you, discussing and exchanging ideas. And finally, we hope you can join us on April 26th at 11:40 CET, for our customer story session entitled ‘Sustainability as a strategy’. In this short session, our speakers (from Schneider, Interxion by DLR, and Beyond.pl), will be discussing the above, and the importance of corporate sustainability within our industry.
